Inspiring the Next Generation with Real-World Design Experience

At BLD Studio, we are passionate about giving young people the opportunity to explore careers in interior design and the creative industries. We proudly offer work experience placements for high school students, while also welcoming college and university students looking to gain practical, real-world insight.

Alongside placements, we actively support our local community by delivering career talks and workshops in both primary and secondary schools, helping students understand what a creative career can look like.

Work Experience Placements

We offer structured and flexible work experience opportunities designed to give students a genuine insight into life inside a working interior design studio.

What students can expect:

  • Exposure to real client projects

  • Insight into the design process from concept to completion

  • Introduction to materials, mood boards, and sourcing

  • Experience with day-to-day studio operations

  • Understanding how creativity meets commercial thinking

Most of our placements are ideal for secondary school students (ages 14–18) completing required work experience weeks, but we’ve also supported:

  • College students exploring creative pathways

  • University students seeking industry experience

We aim to create a welcoming and inspiring environment where students feel confident asking questions and exploring their interests.

Supporting Schools & Careers Education

We believe early exposure to creative careers is key to building confidence and ambition.

That’s why we regularly deliver:

  • Career talks at local high schools

  • Creative workshops for younger students in primary schools

  • Industry insight sessions covering pathways into design

Our sessions are engaging, age-appropriate, and tailored to each school. We cover topics such as:

  • What an interior designer actually does

  • Different routes into the design industry

  • The importance of creativity in business

  • Real-life project examples
